A spontaneous regression (disappearing on its own) is rare, occurring in only about 12% of patients, usually in the early stage of the disease. In the vast majority of cases, the curvature remains stable or worsens over time.
As for “cure”, It is important to differentiate the types of treatment:
- Non-surgical treatments: Options like specific enzyme injections or a penile traction therapy They can partially reduce the curvature (from about 20% to 30%, depending on the case), but they do not eliminate it completely.
- Surgical treatment:Surgery is considered the only way to complete and definitive correction from the deformity, whether it is a curvature, a narrowing in an “ampoule” shape or an associated loss of length.
